Tatamagouche
Screenings take place at the Tatamagouche Fire Hall, Fridays at 8pm.
Films at Tatamagouche have been hosted by Friday Night at the Movies since 2006. Friday Night at the Movies is a project of Sunrise Trail Community Development Co-operative, which has as its goal local self-reliance in food, clothing and energy.
We believe strongly in the power of the creative mind to affect change in the world. For this reason, film has become our vehicle for building a sustainable community.
Past Director's nights have included amongst others Avi Lewis, who presented his film about Argentinian cooperatives titled the Take and Marilyn Waring who described her film critiquing the current economic paradigm titled Who's Counting. Before joining Cinema Politica, we primarily screened National Film Board movies on a weekly basis to a North Shore audience that ranges from ten to fifty. The Cooperative also sponsored the first annual Tatamagouche Film Festival held at the Tatamagouche Centre last fall.
More information on the festival can be found here.
