Concordia Cinema Politica

Montreal: Concordia

The biggest series in the Cinema Politica project is located at Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, where audiences have been as big as 700 for a single screening. In the 2004 university issue of Macleans magazine, Cinema Politica Concordia was listed as one of the three main reasons for students to attend the University in the student life section. Concordia is one of Canada's most politically active campuses, and our film series often teams up with many other politically progressive groups to organize over 20 screenings a year. In 2005 Concordia Undergraduates voted overwhelmingly in favour of a 2 cents per credit fee levy during a referendum, in order to provide Cinema Politica Concordia with a stable budget.

Cinema Politica Concordia is administered by the Cinema Politica Student Association (CCPSA) The CCPSA is made up of a Board of Directors and volunteer coordinators. They are:

Screenings in the Concordia series take place at 1455 de Maisonneuve W.in Room H-110 unless otherwise noted. Most screenings are on Mondays, at 7:30pm with few exceptions.

A student run media organization funded by the students of Concordia. CUTV is committed to presenting the Concordia community with thought provoking political, social and creative content. It is broadcast on the web and on 7 floors in the hall building. As the oldest university TV station in North America, CUTV is here to inspire students to actively participate within their own media. Concordia Co-op Bookstore: The Co-op Bookstore is where you will find many things - including literature and DVDs that go hand-in-hand with films being screened during this years Cinema Politica screenings. We encourage Cinema Politica's mandate, and find it akin to our own - we encourage all independent thought and critical debate. We also encourage independent media in all shapes and sizes. If you have a film, book or CD that you would like to share with the Concordia Community, we would love for you to bring it to us - come place it on consignment, and we will sell it for you. The Concordia Documentary Center/Centre du documentaire Concordia:
An interdisciplinary research centre within the Faculty of Fine Arts for the fostering of scholarly research and creative activity within the field of documentary arts and media, a home for the interdisciplinary network of Fine Arts-based researchers, teachers, students, documentary artists and archivists committed since 2001 to the fostering of documentary research, culture and activities at Concordia, across Canada, and internationally.
